What Kind of Man Makes Your Heart Pound?

I’m thinking about making Hump day Hunk Day! I know it’s limp, but lately I’ve been thinking about what qualities I really want in a man and in as much as I think the media gives us unrealistic expectations when it comes to love and relationships I also know that it is easier to use examples of men that everyone can relate to, or at least knows about. Believe it or not
there are famous men who have character traits that I hold dear!
Aside from being really nice looking David Duchovny is also intelligent, a trait I find extremely attractive in a man. He graduated from Princeton and has a Masters in English Literature from Yale University. He’s also been married to the same woman for 10 years. This is impressive in the world of famous guys! I was reading an article and in it he said, “When you’re married you have to deal with yourself. You can’t sublimate your pain with drugs and other women. Or should that be women and other drugs?” This statement indicates a level of commitment to the relationship that I believe is needed to make it successful. By saying you have to deal with yourself he also is taking personal responsibility for his role in it. He has the ability to self-reflect and change. Another trait I would like to find in a partner. He also has a sense of humor about himself and life in general that seems to suggest he strives to do the right thing but doesn’t always succeed. I also think he actually likes women rather than objectifying them as we see so often in the media. I will admit I watched the first season of Californication and this is what attracted me to Duchovny. While I realize this is a character he is playing, I believe the character is learning about life, love and relationships. He never really loses who he is, which would suck, but he comes to terms with those qualities that prevent him from growing and then changes them so he can love. A highly desirable quality in a man!
So what qualities do you want in a man?
I love this blog! Girl you said it! My girlfriends mom just asked us all this question at Thanksgiving my “Top 5″ are:
1.) An intellectual who can have deep conversations with me
2.) Feels he has a purpose in life besides having four kids and buying lots of cars
3.) Is spirtual
4.) I can take him to a party and he can make friends and be chill on his own.
5.) He is my partner in crime. I don’t want to ever be one of those “Blockbuster couples” that totally falls off the face of the earth once they get together.

Definitely intelligence - that is a must for me. Humor & quick wit (ooohh, I just love Duchovny’s quick-quipping character, Hank!) and of course, integrity. If I could find a man with those three qualities I would be a happy girl!
