What DOES a Girl Want?

I seriously doubt too many girls are sitting around fantasizing about SPAM, first of all I don’t think anyone really knows what it is and secondly there are foods high on a girls priority list, but they are usually sweet, chocolaty and calorie rich. It’s either chocolate or coffee. And why is that? Because they give us a little boost! Lord knows we need it! I did a little search on the term, “What a girl wants” and found a whole list of advertising images that might provide an answer.

If he was vacuuming naked this might be porn for me, but I think it speaks to the idea that men don’t clean up much. My X wouldn’t do “woman’s work” at all, but I think a lot of men do clean up and a lot of men vacuum. Does a girl want a guy who vacuums?

He does dishes and cleans the kitchen and wears gloves to boot. The underlying message again, girls want guys who clean up too, do you?

And this old gem, girls want a man who puts down the toilet seat. I personally would like that and I would like him to close the lid, and learn to aim, better yet I would like it if he sat down like me this would save on the splash back effect. Now that I think about it this ad would serve me better if the man was cleaning around the toilet. Yes he can wear gloves!

Here we see a man cooking a gourmet meal. Do girls want guys who can cook? Well, probably yes if they clean up afterwards. I prefer a man who doesn’t expect a gourmet meal every night, or better yet a man who will cook with me.

This was the only job my X thought he “should” do, oh and he liked to help carry heavy things. What’s the big deal with taking out the garbage? I like his submissive attitude though!

Do girls really want flowers?

Going to a craft fair with you man, hmmm and the shoe shopping thing. I like to do these activities with my girlfriends. There may be a guy or two who understands the nuances of shopping, but not like my girlfriends. Sometimes I like to shop alone, it can feel like down time. If he wants to finance the event I’m in, but as far as I’m concerned he can watch the game. Everyone needs their space!

I didn’t find one ad that had anything to do with real intimacy. It was all about getting the man to clean up after himself or the both of you, but I think what a girl really wants is a connection to the guy she is with. She wants to be able to talk to him and have him actually listen. She might desire physical closeness that isn’t about sex. She probably wants to get back what she gives.
